Song 2: Part of Your World - Audition song 1
Before our lesson:
At the end of our lesson:
This week:
- This week we started our first audition song. We added yayaya to our vocalizing - trying to get to an even brighter place to get us ready for musical theater.
- We worked on our "mix" voice - our lighter head voice with our yayaya place - pushing into a brighter and stronger place with our higher notes to try and smooth the transition between our chest/belt voice and our mix/head voice.
- We worked on pronunciation: mapping out our song to make sure we stayed in our mickey mouse - hey that's my barbie place.
- we added texture with our "excited whisper" and shortening certain words - adding style back into our voice.
Performance:
- we worked on animation - excited facial expressions trying to push it as far as we possibly could. The happier the better, engaging all our facial muscles including our eyebrows.
- we worked on getting comfortable - taking our movement in vocalizing into our performance and singing.
- We worked on "working the stage" - making sure that we didn't stay in one place - getting ready for an actual performance vs. a voice lesson.
Things to practice:
- We're at the point where I need Olivia to practice at least twice outside of our lesson.
- Vocalize VERY LIGHTLY on: lip buzz, humming - both while rolling your head.
- Vocalize not caring about the sound but staying in a very very small forward place on: yayayaya
- Watch your videos at least 3 times
- see where your voice goes "back" and out of our forward placement - correct while practicing.
- see where your facial expressions slip - correct while practicing - try to push it to the "way too much" place with expressions and actions.
Sooo awesome Olivia!! Can't wait for next week!
