Will: One step closer (week 1)

This week:

This week we worked on Will's "one step closer" song!

We worked on building his voice, making his lines slower and louder so that you can understand them, making his voice stronger, his actions bigger, and breaking his nervous habits!

Building his voice: the way we're building Will's voice is in his warm up exercises. We vocalized on: humming, me-me, yah-yah. By making sure we start light and build from there - Will will be able to build his voice without hurting it. We wiggle a lot in our warm up as well - forcing Will to warm up his nerves and get ready to perform nice and big!

His lines: The phrasing that we use is "make it stronger!!" and "do it in slow motion!!" - by doing this we're giving Will a chance to breathe to calm his nerves (slower lines = more time to relax), and we're trying to over compensate for when he gets on stage. Everyone speeds up naturally when they get in front of people - This is awesome practice for him!

Actions/nervous habits: Will knew all of his actions (very impressive). We connected his song with these actions today. He has a few nervous habits (going quiet, putting his hands in his pockets, not smiling) today we worked on breaking those! He made AWESOME progress!
