Ella Huss: Like i'm gonna lose you (week 1)

This week:

This week we started a new song! I'm so proud of Ella for sticking to the hard hard ones that she knows will challenge her!!
We are continuing our work on high belt, we started scatting, kept working on texturizing and incorporating it into our song to add dynamics.

High belt:
This is just hard. Every singer has to continually work on their high belt to make sure their voices are in the correct placement so they don't hurt themselves, and to make sure their voices stay stretched out and in shape! Ella is doing SO well!!!

Scatting!
Scatting is gymnastics for the vocal chords - they're fast, hard, and frustrating. It doesn't take long to get out of scatting shape so it's another one of those things that once you start -- you're in it for the long hall! Ella did WONDERFULLY! We started on hard hard scats and she caught on in no time at all! As we work on scat exercises, we're trying to continually move Ella's voice to a comfortable forward place - training her voice/placement to go forward with texturizing, scats, and belt so that it sounds brighter, she has more control over her voice, and so that she doesn't hurt herself.

Texturizing/dynamics:
With all of the cool things we're working on in our texturizing (breathiness, adding a little "gravel", vocal flips (or shelving), and different word manipulation/pronunciation), we are developing Ella's bag of vocal tricks.
The dynamics that these texturizing techniques provide allow Ella to shape each song into something unique - making them her own by adding things to her own personal style.
