We continued to work on and improve sounding brighter and more forward - our goal is to change the direction her style comes out of her mouth so that it is more clear and easier to control. She is doing so well at this so far!
We accomplish about 70% of this by smiling, and the other 30% by making sure that we start all of our words in a talking place.
We added some new things as well!
- We started widening and elongating her vowels for a more full and open sound.
- I started teaching Ella a belt and mix placement for her new song "Hello" by Adele.
- We worked on texturizing her sound with a breathy exercise that we're going to add into her songs to give it further dimension with the complete contrast from her belt/mix voice.
With this new belt placement we're working on getting Ella to sound a little bit more forward and a little less in her throat. Because it is so different from the Jason Maraz kind of songs that we've done - we started back with our "hit the wall" method - which means Ella had to strip down the sound to a completely conversational place (sounding like she's talking on the notes) to make sure she kept the song bright. Once we get tot he place where Ella's voice stays forward (this week or next week), we will start adding all of the cool style that she wants to.
We continued with our texturizing on our new song! It is even harder to do when you come from a full belt voice and try and whisper sing right after it - she's doing so awesome!!!
I'm so proud of her!!
Here are our videos from this month:
Hark the Harold Angels Sing: We worked really hard this week on our bright sound and singing through our teeth - we also added elongating and widening our vowels this week.
(These songs wouldn't upload to youtube so you're seeing the unedited - started my camera too early - version - so sorry!)
