Ella Huss: Like i'm gonna lose you (week 2 +3)

This week:

This week we worked on singing through our "pop box", going over the top/finishing out the front of our upside down U, adding texture in soft notes, belt, keeping it forward.

Pop Box:
When singing quick pop songs, we have to sing through a kind of filter that we call a "pop box". It's essentially taking our regular forward placement and starting each word in an extreme version of it. Taking the high end, the place that is the most through our teeth - where words are almost distorted they are so small -- and then pushing the sound forward from there. This allows us to sing much quicker, have a more commercial sound, and it further brightens our voice. Pop music is so condensed - it needs all the brightness we can give it or it will sound muffled or like we're singing through molasses.

Adding texture in soft notes:
We added breathiness, weight on certain notes, and texture through out Ella's choruses and verses to help give the song more dynamics and make it sound more produced.

Belt:
We continued to work on Ella's high belt - making sure that it stays in a forward/talking place and that it doesn't fall back or get muffled. We also worked on brightening her sound even further - making sure that she can transition between loud and soft belt.  She's doing so great!!!
