Abby Horsley: I wanna be like you (week 2)

This week:

We vocalized on:
mah-mah, be-be, yah-yah, nay-yay

We worked on:
1. Pop box
2. Separating words

Pop Box:
Abby is getting better and better at controlling and manipulating her voice to make it sound bigger, brighter, and more in tune! As we continue to work on our “Pop Box”, we are moving Abby into a more conversational placement - so that it both sounds and feels natural for her. We do this so that her brain makes a full switch - telling her that she should use this placement any time she is singing - not just in voice lessons. Our goal is for her pop box placement to become so natural that even when she is goofing off around the house - that her pop box is still in tact.

She’s doing so awesome!!

Separating words:
To continue to give Abby control of her voice - we are working on separating her words as well. When they get strung together, Abby sounds like she is mumbling, and her voice falls back into a placement we are trying to avoid. This mumbling singing sound tends to come in when we start new lines in the song that we haven’t gone over, or when she’s unsure of exactly how they are supposed to sound. We took these new lines a little bit slower to make sure Abby could hear and feel the difference between separating her words and what she was doing before.
She made an awesome switch!

Here are our videos from today!

Before/End of our lesson:
