Abby Horsley:

This week:

We vocalized on:
Mah-mah, Nay-yay, Be-be, yah-yah, everybody's favorite, oh-yah.
We worked on:
1. Staying in the pocket
2. Bringing her voice more forward to a musical theater place

Staying in the pocket:
Because our new song is fast -it's easy to get behind the music or to mumble the words int he middle of our phrases. A lot of times they get lost because they're too fast for the way we're singing them (somewhere back in our throat, and not annunciating words in the front of our mouth). By bringing our voice more forward, we are able to cut out the lag time it takes for our voice to travel from the back of our throat and mouth to the front - and back again. It allows us to add power and volume without getting stuck and getting behind the music. It also leaves room for us to add character to our song!

Abby's improvement was amazing!

Musical theater place:
We had to find our forward musical theater place for a minute today - remembering how to sing like we talk but in character. Once she got the hang of it and was able to speed up the sound by moving it forward - Abby was a lot more comfortable with it! From there it just got better and better!

Here are our videos from today!

Before/End of our lesson:

Great job Abby!! See you soon!!
