This week: We vocalized on:
Mah-mah, nay-yay, hum, be-be, ya-ya We worked on: 1. Keeping our verses in the pocket while adding minimal style 2. Making our vowels wide and maintaining our placement on our high belt
In the pocket:
When singing a pop song, we need to make sure that our voice keeps up with the music. When trying to merge style into our new placement and everything we have learned so far - our voice can have latency issues (or go slower than we want it to) while it tries to figure out what to add where. Today we started to add some style while making sure that Lily didn't fall back into bad placement habits.
She did awesome!
Widening vowels:
I know I've said it before, but High Belt is just hard! It's one of the hardest things we learn how to do with our voice. Because of this - it takes a minute to find a place that is comfortable, that our brain will let us use. Lily was experimenting with different places today - I was pushing her hard to get to a bright wide place on her high vowels. She was working so hard. I was so proud.
For our next song (NEXT WEEK IS NEW SONG WEEK! WOO!) We will be able to use all these principles and placements that Lily has learned on something fresh and build it on top of a strong foundation! I'm so excited!!
