Mah-mah, Be-be, nay-yay, repeating sections to build Olivia's voice
We worked on:
1. Pop box - Squeakier, Stronger, Sassier, Louder, Shorter
2. Self evaluation: racing ourselves
Pop Box/ Self Evaluation:
This week, I wanted Olivia to not only see how much she has improved, but how much she was capable of. We started her lesson by watching her after video from last week - commenting the whole time on how awesome her improvement had been from her before video and all the incredible things she had added to make it so much better. We looked at all the things we wanted to make sure we started our lesson with, and talked about each place we could improve even more - so that her after video from last week became a new before video.
We decided that, in order to improve as much as she had in the first 2 weeks in one lesson, we needed to add the final touches on our pop box!
Louder/ Sassier: Olivia's new goal became - sing it louder than last week (while keeping it fast and punchy) and perform it about 10 times as big! We talked about how much more fun her song was going to be if she let herself go and let herself be big and goofy with me in the basement - without worrying about what she looked like. I told her that once she pushed PAST the point of being uncomfortable and self conscious that THEN it would start to be fun to perform!
All i have to say is wow. She crushed.
Squeakier/Smaller: In order to keep up with the music and add the power we wanted Olivia to add - we decided that the next thing we would make sure to add was making our pop box even smaller and more forward!
She really .. just wow... She had an incredible lesson!!! She gets better every single week. We're having so much fun! and she is working SO HARD!! I'm so proud of her!!!
