2. Performing: Adding movement while maintaining our placement
Simplifying our pop box
Today we worked on moving Kate's voice to a place that is not only more natural, but a little bit simpler. Now that we have started to build our pop box in both Kate's voice and mind - the muscle memory is there enough that she doesn't have to think so hard about it. We worked on kate focusing on talking the song (or feeling like she's talking the song), and keeping her words short. I'm moving Kate's voice to a place that our placements feel not only confortable for her, but that she uses them as the default anytime she goes to sing!
With her focusing on the simple parts of our pop box placement - we were able to add more things to her song without her losing her vocal technique!
Performing: Adding movement while maintaining our placement
Today we also worked on performing!! We introduced using a microphone (and went over mic technique and how to hold it), and started working on adding movement! Kate's job was to add energy to her voice while adding movement to sound and look even bigger for stage!
We will continue to work on performance technique - and making sure that Kate maintains her placements when adding movement and in front of audiences!
Wow. I'm so impressed with Kate!! It is so hard to start a lesson right where you ended the last one - and Kate does it!! She comes prepared, focused, and remembers and applies everything we have done in previous weeks so that we only improve every lesson - skipping the review at the beginning! I appreciate her work ethic SO much!!
