2. Transferring our placement between genre's and songs
Performance technique
As we start to get ready for the stage we have started our heavy performance technique lessons! We have started adding more movement, microphone technique, and specific choreography - making sure that Olivia gets bigger and more confident every time we sing through the song!
Transferring our placement between genre's and songs
Today we worked on our ability to maintain our forward (baseline) placement while switching the genre we are catering to (or switching the part of the placement we are exaggerating or emphasizing). We switched between our pop song "No" - which uses our "Pop box" placement (bringing our placement so forward that it sounds shallow and squeaky, shortening our words, hitting the beginning consonants in words for emphasis and style), and our song "Part of your world" - which uses our "Musical theater placement (widening vowels, separating words to add character and tell a story, adding energy and movement suited to a theatrical stage for both audio and visual effects).
By switching off genres, parts of our placements, and songs - we are beginning to condition Olivia's voice so that her brain can easily switch between all of these things, customizing a whole show of songs in different genres back to back if she needs to! We're starting to get ready for our back to school concert - where all the students will do just that! They will be able to show off all the sides of their voices that we've been working so hard on!
It will help build Olivia's brain and muscle memory in a bootcamp fashion as we continue to run her brain and voice through our song obstacle courses!
