Tag Edwards: I just can't wait to be king (week 1)

This week:

We vocalized on:
Mah-mah, Nay-yay, Be-be

We worked on:
1. Mix voice/ Range extension (continued)
2. Staying in the pocket (continued)
3. Musical theater placement

Mix voice/ Range extension (continued)
Today we continued to extend Tag's range in our vocalization exercises! We are extending his range with both his high notes and his low notes - making sure that he stays in the correct placement for the safety of his cords, and to free up even more notes!
The awesome thing about Tag being such a hard worker is that he is improving even more than he realizes! He is doing hard exercises, building parts of his voice that he will be able to use more and more as we get into more difficult songs! He is improving his range, his vocal agility (or ability to song quick notes, scat, and stay in tune while singing quickly!), and the way his brain processes singing. Our placements are becoming second nature for him which is so so great!!

Staying in the pocket (continued)
As we continue to work on quick songs, we continue to work on Tag's ability to stay in the pocket of a song (or keep up with the timing, even though the song is going fast). We do this by having Tag continue to separate his words, so he can process them more quickly. He gets better and better with each song!

Musical theater placement
With our new song, we have started working on a slightly different placement! With "I just can't wait to be king", we have started working on our true musical theater placement (that we use to tell stories). This placement is the most talked placement we have - taking our forward placement even further.
We emphasize this the most on lines like "oh I just can't wait to be king!" - Having Tag talk the words, sounding excited - rather than staying completely melodic (or sounding like he is singing).
This placement helps add even more character to our sound, making it more fit for a theatrical stage!

He did so great!!
Here are our videos from today!

Before/End of our lesson:
