Performance technique: Masculine movement Today we worked heavily on our performance technique. As we get Walker ready for musical auditions in January and our Fall concert in September - we are starting to focus on the things that enhance his singing so that he looks like a performer - comfortable moving on stage in front of people. Today we introduced masculine movement - sharp, angular movement that makes the performer look confident, masculine, and in control. We started simple to get Walker used to moving - with hard strong steps, focusing on his posture, and small sharp arm movements. With our performance posture - we are focusing on Walker keeping his shoulders rolled back and having him stretch like he's trying to act 5 inches taller than he is. This will help him look more confident and will help him execute his actions in a way that will make them look even bigger and even better. Each week we will add more and more things to make sure that he is comfortable moving so that he can look cool and in control on stage! It was a hard lesson!! Walker did so great!
