This week:
We vocalized on:
Mah-mah, be-be, yah-yah, nay-yay
We worked on:
1. Soft belt - Maintaining placement/ conversational tone
Maintaining placement/ conversational tone
Today we worked on moving our placement to a slightly more conversational place. We worked on Abby's "soft belt", which is a powerful place that has less volume than full belt and requires more control. In order to get the same power without the same amount of pressure on Abby's cords (for volume), we worked on Abby singing even more like she talks - the same volume, the same tone, and making sure that she can more easily transition between her soft belt and her mix voice!
Soft belt is more of a brain thing than a vocal cord thing because we use soft belt all the time in our vocalization/warm up exercises! We are working on connecting all the awesome things that Abby knows how to do with her voice - to her brain so that she can control her voice even more! It's a hard process! Especially because Abby has gotten so awesome so quickly!
The great thing is, once Abby relaxed into our placement a little bit she recognized the feeling and was able to duplicate it the rest of our lesson!
Here are our videos from today!
