Ella Huss: I say "I do" (week 1)

Texturizing low notes/ Using dynamics to stylize
Today we worked on stylizing Ella's song for her cousin's wedding! Because the song isn't extremely range-y (or doesn't have a lot of extremely high notes), we were able to focus on the emotion of the song - or how we manipulate our voice to bring out certain emotions in the song. When singing our low notes, we added breathy texture (added more air while pushing the sound out) and widened our vowels to soften any harshness and make it sound vulnerable or tender (perfect for a wedding!).
Then, as the song builds - we worked on adding dynamics both with volume and power (or pressure on our vocal cords), to make sure that even though the dynamics aren't written into the song with really high and really low notes, that we could still make the song interesting and give it dimension! We used different stylistic choices like shortening certain words, emphasizing certain words, making certain words breathier and some stronger to add this dimension throughout the song!
