Today we continued our work on our style/texture of the song! With a song like this, especially for a wedding, it isn't necessarily about the show off high notes - it's about the different cool things we can add to make it sound tender and vulnerable and to make it fit the mood of the wedding!
We continued working on widening our words - making sure to add breath in each one as we went along. We worked on maintaining our placement and explored a few extra scats to spice up the low notes!
Performance technique
While we worked heavily on performance technique last week - giving Ella many different options of things she could add to her song, as we explored the specific nature of this song for the wedding (bridesmaids walking down the isle), we decided to use the principles we learned last week, and use a few of them to show confidence, without drawing too much attention to Ella with her gestures in performing. We will use - slight arm motions, light swaying, a little bit of rhythmic movement in the chorus - keeping it relatively small, and our power stance that shows confidence.
We also worked on making sure the key was right with the piano and sheet music at the beginning of our lesson!
