Today we worked on making sure that our voice sounds natural and consistent regardless of where we are in our range. When singing our highest notes - we worked on changing the concentration of our vocal tone from going straight forward and narrow, to spreading the tone along our teeth, widening the concentration so that it sounds brighter, bigger, and more easily transitioned to from a lower note where the concentration of tone is wider, sounding more like our talking voice.
One way we went about accomplishing this, was to add "ah" to the middle of our words. As we softened our vowels from harsh sounds to a more natural conversational tone, we also not only lifted our soft pallet - but widened the roof of our mouth making sure that our classical placement remained in tact, further brightening our sound as well.
By doing this, we get a much more natural and easy sound, without sacrificing power, or volume.
Estelle did awesome!!
Brightening and smoothing our transitions
While working on changing the concentration of our tone, we also worked on the overall pronunciation of our words - brightening up our whole sound by singing everything through our teeth and further widening our lower notes as well - smiling our faces off.
As we brightened up our overall sound, while working specifically on our higher notes, we worked on making sure there were no distinct breaks in our voice when traveling between registers - smoothing our transitions and giving a consistency to our song!
