Lily Schaeffer: Lost boy (week 2)

This week:

We vocalized on:
Mah-mah, Nay-yay, be-be, lip buzz, yah-yah

We worked on:
1. Change in tonal sounds - style
2. Widening vowels

Change in tonal sounds - style
Today we worked on really advanced style technique! We started working on changing the amount of tone we use throughout phrases and throughout our song to bring a different kind of dynamic to our song. This means depending on the word, we are making it sound more airy or breathy (a thinner sound), or adding a more tonal sound making the note sound more full (a thicker sound). Going between the two is very hard, but once mastered - it sounds great!! Mastering this technique will help Lily further customize her songs, and give her more and more control over her vocal cords and her ability to manipulate and change the sound.

We are working on giving Lily the ability to use her voice like an instrument - using different sounds, style, amount of breath, and scats, so that it sounds style rich and original instead of simply a beautiful voice that sounds the same no matter what she sings, or like she's trying to mimic the original artist. We are giving her a more artistic voice!
She's doing so awesome!

Widening vowels
We also continued our work on widening Lily's vowels to make the bottom of her range sound more stylistic and natural and the top of her range sound more full without adding pressure to her vocal cords.

She had such an awesome lesson today!!

Here are our videos from today!
