Tatum Edwards: Black Magic/ Good morning Baltimore (week 4) Performance prep

This week:

We vocalized on:
Mah-mah, Nay-yay, be-be

We worked on:
1. Moving between placements
2. Performance prep

Moving between placements
Today we worked on being able to switch our brain and voice between placements! Even though each placement we learn is an extension of our baseline/forward placement - going back and forth between musical theater, pop, classical, and contemporary - with all the different variations and exaggerations of our baseline placement can be complicated! We want to make sure, as we move forward with Tatum's voice lessons and as we prepare for our Fall concert - that we work on Tatum's voice even more than individual songs. (We will still work on individual songs and use them to teach and help Tatum do everything she wants and needs to do musically - we will just be adding to our regular lessons to make sure that the confidence she feels in her musical ability isn't dependent on the song and if we have or haven't worked on it!)

Today, we went between our pop box placement (black magic) and our musical theater character (Good morning Baltimore). Both of these songs are extremely different in both vocal technique/placement and performance techniques. We worked on how to switch between them and how to make them different for our performance in both style/ placement/ technique and performance.

Performance prep
We also worked on choreography - both with our pop song and our musical theater song! We will continue to work on the choreography of our songs so that Tatum feels 100% ready to go by the time she performs in our Fall concert!!

She did awesome!!
Here are our videos from today!

Before/End of our lesson:

Great job Tatum!!! See you soon!
