Today we continued working on our Fall concert! We started by continuing to work on switching between the different placements we will be using in our concert. Because they emphasize different parts of our regular forward "baseline" placement - it's tricky for our brains to go from one to the other. For our musical theater placement - we are emphasizing the character elements of our voice with voice inflections, pronunciation, widening vowels, and talking out our verses. For our pop songs - we are moving to our pop box, shortening our words, bringing our voice even more forward (taking the bass out), and simplifying it.
With both placements we are working on adding energy to our songs and performing them bigger and bigger complete with choreography and microphone technique!
We will continue to work on this until our concert to make sure Tatum is comfortable doing all the different styles she will be performing!
Choreography
We also continued to work on our specific choreography for "Dear future husband" (very particular moves that all 3 girls will be doing), and our loose choreography for "black magic" (a few specific moves - mostly varied moves that Tatum is learning that she can add and take away whenever she wants. When we work on "loose" choreography it is more working on the steps and techniques that look great on stage that she can add to several different songs vs. specific choreography that fits a very specific number.)
Performing group numbers
For the last 10 minutes of Tatum's lesson - I had her do her 2 group numbers with Ella Jones (who is also in both of those numbers) so that they can get used to performing it in a group! We worked on feeding off of and matching each other's energy, matching certain moves, maintaining rhythm between the two of them, how to map out a stage with more than one person on it, and how to shift the focus to each other when the other person is singing.
