Ella Huss: Acting "onion rolls" (week 1)

This week:

We worked on:
1. Character shifts
2. Character development

For all of my acting classes, I created 3 new worksheets to help map out all the work we need to do for each scene we are preparing. We will use these worksheets in our private and group acting classes!

Here are our worksheets:

Worksheet 1:

Worksheet 2:

Worksheet 3:

Character development
Today we worked on building a dynamic character - that Ella could audition with! We worked on mapping out things that made our character more interesting - that would help show Ella's acting chops.

1. The first thing we decided on was that our character was late for an audition that now she couldn't audition for.
2. The second was that our character was passionate and desperate.

We worked on mapping out how we would show these character developments both physically and emotionally.

Character shifts
Today we worked hard on our character shifts - or the ability to change something suddenly about our character in a monologue or scene to further our character development. Today we needed to show that our character was late for an audition so the director wasn't going to let her audition. So, she took matters into her own hands and tried to show him her acting and singing ability while convincing him to cast her. In order to show this emotionally - we switched between sounding desperate and trying to not let the person we were talking to leave. In order to show this physically, we added complete character shifts to show that our character was very clearly trying to show that she was an actress. We did this by changing our body language completely when we were in character being her desperate self mode vs. our character "acting" mode.

Ella did so great!

Here are our videos from today!
