Because we only have 4 lessons left until our Fall concert we are deep in our performance prep mode and getting ready to rock! Today we started our song checklist - going through every aspect of one song at a time until we feel like all of our questions are answered, all of our reminders set, and the song is 100% ready to go - before moving on to our next song. We need to make sure we know what we're doing vocally (with our placement), what we're doing with our hands, feet, body and microphone to feel ready to perform. We started with "Kiss the girl"!
Placement: For our placement on "kiss the girl" - we worked hard on our musical theater character placement! We are keeping our words short and punchy (emphasizing the consonants), and making sure they come from a forward talking place and that they don't fall back into our throats (where they can sound muffled, heavy, slow, and weak).
Choreography: For choreography we worked on incorporating fun actions with our arms that go with the song and remind us to separate our words and throw them forward at the same time!
