Ella Huss: 7 nation army (week 1)

This week:

We vocalized on:
Mah-mah, nay-yay, mm-mah
We worked on:
1. Stylizing!

Stylizing!
Today we worked on heavy style for our new cover song "7 nation army". Ella heard a girl on youtube do a cover of this song that she really liked, so we started by listening to her version, and seeing what we wanted to steal and how we could make it sound even cooler than the way she did it.

We worked on different concentration levels of tone - going from really breathy and texturized to a full belt sound (a higher tone concentration), how to go between these different textures, and mapped out where to put the different levels in order to make our song sound interesting, different, and jam packed full of cool style!

Then, we worked on making sure to add punchiness (or hard consonants and short words) to different parts of our song to again, switch things up, making the song sound more produced - or "on purpose".

We then worked on making sure we widened our vowels and chewed our words - or made sure that our mouth shape remained consistent (a wide rectangle-like shape on our low notes, further exaggerating our vowels and word pronunciation - and then expanding to a triangle shape with our full belt or high notes to make the sound bigger and more full).

Ella did great!
Here are our videos from today!
