Group Acting: Class 3

This week:

We worked on:
1. Character Development: Bigger is better

Character Development: Bigger is better
Today we worked on a slightly more advanced area of our character development: Taking each character development point that we have made - and using them to make our scene as interesting, funny, dramatic, or big as possible!

In our prep video, we learned how, a scene and acting for a theatrical stage is not about going BIG - it's about going BIG in very specific ways. Just increasing volume and size will not increase your performance. However, going big in these very specific ways makes the character you've created - complete with your character development - come alive even more! It enhances your acting if you can take an action that is supposed to show frustration and make it look and sound like you're more frustrated. Increasing the emotion in our voice intonation and the size of our specific physical actions help move our Character forward.

In order to do this, we started with breaking down our character development points, mapping out how we were going to show each point physically and emotionally.

We then went through each of our physical actions, voice inflections, and facial expression and talked about how we could make each of them bigger or more distinct!

As we switched off between our groups, we discussed what each group did well, the ways that they enhanced their characters - and then worked on building the characters as a group by stealing the best things from everyone!

Everyone did SO awesome today!!!
Here are our videos from today!
