Lily Schaeffer: Checklist (week 2)

This week:

We vocalized on:
Mah-mah, Nay-yay

We worked on:
1. Checklist!

Checklist!
Today we continued to work on our Fall Concert! Because of how our practice worked on Saturday, we now have a more accurate snapshot of exactly what Lily wants to work on for our concert because we have now performed our songs in front of people (discovering how placements are maintained and performance size adjusts based on nerves), we know which parts of songs Lily feels the most comfortable with, and which parts she wants to work on stylistically.

We started our lesson today by evaluating what these things were! With every student there on Saturday, I challenged them to try and perform twice at our next practice as they did at this last one. So, today, we started with this! Making sure Lily knew what BIG and HUGE felt like! We clarified exactly what she was going to do with her arms and feet, how far she was supposed to move.

We also re-cut "Love story" to make sure Lily's performance maintained the high energy (we had a long instrumental period in the middle that was just too long - and too hard to try and maintain all the energy and build up of the song that Lily had worked so hard to get to up until that point in the song - when there was a long period of just standing there.)

We went through all 3 of our songs at least twice (our checklists are getting harder, more intense, and Lily is getting pickier about her checklists and how quickly she can pass something off)

With each time Lily sang one of her songs - her performance got bigger, more focused, and cleaner - her placement got better and more easy to control, and she looked more comfortable!

I'm so excited for this Saturday for her to be able to perfect her audience prep and performing even more!! She took every student to a higher level in their vocals and performance by being there!!

She is seriously going to KILL this performance!!! I'm so excited!!!!!
Here are our videos from today!
