Ella Huss: Acting: Freaky Friday

Character shifts
Today we focused on our character shifts in a scene or monologue! Our monologue today was from "Freaky Friday". Because this movie is about someone who ends up in someone else's body - it was a perfect monologue for Ella to have to make MAJOR character shifts to show the contrast between Tess Colman acting like Tess Colman and Tess Colman remembering she is supposed to act like a teenager because she is in Anna Colman's body.

We mapped out how the 2 sides of our characters would show their distinctive characteristics:

Tess Colman:
Physically: Very Proper, rigid posture
Emotionally: speaking steadily and confidently

Anna Colman:
Physically: Slouchy, fidgety
Emotionally: "like", stuttering, awkward


We then worked on adding the distinct character shifts so that the audience could tell the difference by adding body shifts and extra long beats between shifts.
