Today we worked on making sure Ella feels ready to go for her Mary Poppins Audition!! We worked on both of her songs for the audition, making sure she felt comfortable with the placement, harmonies, and staying in the pocket with the quick words.
To do this, we worked on making sure our high mix placement gets squeakier as it gets higher to give her power in those really high notes, shortening and separating her words to improve vocal agility so that she could keep up with the quick phrases, and repetition with the harmonies with the piano, with the music (online), and a capella.
She's going to be great!
Christmas project
Today we also started working on our digital Christmas project! (we will be recording songs in my recording studio in the next few weeks!)
We worked on "Last Christmas".
We worked a little bit on studio technique (just to refresh her memory) - how to sing with a condenser microphone (making sure not to move, singing extra bright with an extra big smile).
We also worked on making sure Ella's voice is a little bit more forward than usual (or a tiny bit squeakier), that her voice had the extra brightness that we need in the studio coming up!
Ella did so awesome today!!!
