Sefra Hodge: Watch what happens (week 1)

This week:

We vocalized on:
mah-mah, nay-yay, mm-mah, lip buzz
We worked on:
1. Musical Theater Character
2. Keeping it forward

Musical Theater Character
Today we continued to work on our musical theater character placement! Because Sefra came so prepared today with her song for ThesCON - we were able to skip having to get into our Baseline placement (talking it out, moving it forward, separating our syllables) and were able to get right into the next level things specific to musical theater character. We started by bumping up the intensity of Sefra's character development - talking about what our character needed to get across in our song. Because she is frantic we needed to show that physically and emotionally in our movement and the intensity of our vocals.

Emotionally - we made sure to give each word the proper breath support (or make sure to keep the loud intensity and punchiness of the consonants consistent). We focused on adding appropriate voice inflections to make sure the character was big and stage ready. We will continue to add character to our song each week!

Physically we started by just having Sefra move more! We will get into specific choreography - but for now, we are just looking for the size and to get Sefra comfortable with moving as much as she will need to.

Keeping it forward
The last thing we worked on was taking Sefra's awesome talked placement - and moving it a little bit more forward, and making it a little bit more character driven. We did this by having Sefra aim each word out her teeth - projecting the sound and placement forward, and separating her words so that she could maintain the speed of the song while adding these specific voice inflections!

She did awesome!!
Here are our videos from today!
