Moving more musical theater
Today we worked on moving our vocals more forward so that our song sounds has more character and sounds a little bit more musical theater. We worked on talking it from a more squeaky place and feeling each word extend through our teeth until the very end of the word. (We moved it from a natural talking place to a more character talking place) We did this to add energy to our song, make it feel a little bit more melodic - and to set up our high notes correctly so that the transition between low and high notes is seamless and easy for Sefra!
Cleaning our actions
We also worked on sharpening our movement - cutting out the chaos and having moments that we draw the audience in by hitting a move and holding it for a few seconds. We found the focal point actions and worked on making them bigger and more concise.
We also worked on our "musical theater present" stage action - of just singing/talking at the audience in an engaged way using our hands and consonants to show that we are engaged and the emotion our character is feeling.
Sefra did awesome!
