Our Winter voice lesson recital could not have gone better!!
We started our preparation on Saturday with our "Christmas party/Dress rehearsal" at 4:00.
We ate pizza and bonded for the first 25 minutes while everyone trickled in and then got down to business!
We did a group vocalization, adding in our new vocal yoga (extra relaxation exercises), ran the entire show once through with corrections from me and questions from the students, and then ran the show a second time - this time only doing the parts the kids wanted one last run on before show time. All of this took us to 7:00.
Our 2 weeks of prep:
The 2 weeks leading up to the recital the students all together put in around 30 EXTRA hours (on top of regular voice lessons) of voice lessons and performance prep - and wow. It showed.
We worked on: stage techniques, introductions, microphone techniques, and had real crowd experience hours.
These hours in front of actual people (other than their weird voice teacher) helped them not necessarily be less nervous - but know that no matter the level of nerves... that they could handle it with ease. That they would sound great, perform great, and be ok even when the nervous energy set in!
They really worked so incredibly hard. I'm so proud of them!
And now... HERE IT IS!!
Our recital:
Thank you to everyone who came and supported these incredible kids!! I'll see you all in January!Labels: Abby, Ella, Ella H., Erin, Olivia, Olivia B., Tatum, Walker
