Texture and Style: Today we pushed Olivia past our baseline placement in a big way. We formed a new extension of our regular forward, bright placement with heavy texture and style. We worked on widening her vowels to a place of almost chewing them, and adding air and breath so her words to make them sound more commercial, controlled, and original - going past just sounding beautiful to sounding complex and like she has a big bag of singing tricks. The hardest part about this heavy texture and style is pushing past the point where you know it sounds good. You have to push past feeling comfortable and be willing to make it sound weird in order to explore the different sides of it. Once you get to that place - you can pick and choose what works and what sounds best. We're still working on pushing Olivia to that place, but she made EXCELLENT progress today!
