Mah-mah, Nay-yay, "don't rain on my parade", oh-ah, everybody's favorite
We worked on:
1. Widening - getting back into musical theater belt
2. Audition prep - heavy performance technique
Widening - getting back into musical theater belt
Today we worked on our "Musical theater placement" - widening our vowels, emphasizing our consonants even more, and making sure that our high notes were free, forward and big.
Audition prep - heavy performance technique
We also worked very heavily on performance technique - both vocally and physically. We worked on performing for a large audience - making sure our shoulders stay back and that our movements are deliberate, over the top, and extended up past our shoulders. We talked about walking into Erin's audition and impressing the director/ judges/ casting people immediately - making sure that Erin not only sounded beautiful, but that she looked and acted throughout her song like she could carry a stage and a whole performance. We worked on performing our song vocally - so that it didn't just sound beautiful, but that it had character and dynamics. And we worked on making sure that the performance wasn't holding anything back - working through the nerves and uncomfortable nature of going huge for a small audience.
