Today we worked on our "forward placement"! We are working hard for Abigail's singing voice to build in so many ways! The first one is, we want her to be able to sing in a relaxed way, as loud as she talks, with as much control as she has over her talking voice! This helps us build a great foundation for how our singing lessons should feel and sound!
Today we worked on talking it out - using our fingers to separate our words into syllables, and smiling to brighten our sound!
Pitch accuracy
Today we also worked on our pitch accuracy! Matching pitch can be a really really hard thing. We have so many things to think about when we're singing, that sometimes the correct pitch of a word or phrase slips, inserting sharp or flat notes. Today we worked on changing the way our brain thinks about each individual tone and note to make it easier for us to hit more notes accurately!
We worked on separating each note in our head, talking each of them on the tune and taking out any habits that would knock our pitch out of sync (or singing monster habits where our brain tells us - this is how this should sound and feel.) Instead we work on hearing and feeling exactly what a forward and simplified placement is supposed to be and focus on that rather than a melodic sound!
Abigail did great!
Here are our videos from today!
Before/End of our lesson:
Good job Abigail! Keep practicing our talking!! See you soon!
