Today we started to add style to our forward placement! In order to get to this place in our voice lessons, we have to checkoff everything that makes up our forward placement - making sure that Andrea wont fall back into old habits when she starts to feel like she's singing more than she has been.
We start this process by slowly adding things - and having Andrea connect them in her brain, making sure that it is sounding how SHE WANTS and feeling how I WANT it to feel for her (forward, bright, squeaky,). This ensures that not only her vocal cords will be healthy - but that her voice will be much easier to control!
We started approaching our style, by widening our vowels and relaxing our pronunciation. By doing this, we are adding a more contemporary sound with the texture of our verses, while making the high notes sound bigger, brighter, easier to sing and more in tune! We add an "ah" vowel in the middle of our words - widening the sound to compensate for the bass we took our of Andreas voice when we moved her voice forward. This makes the "big" sound so much easier to control and sound more commercial (or like things that are on the radio now).
Aiming our placement
A big part of what we started doing today is teaching Andrea's brain how singing should FEEL, and that even though we are now adding stylistic things that feel a little bit familiar to her, that she needs to approach them in a much different way than she used to!
