Today we focused on maintaining our forward placement with "Tomorrow" - our song that we have worked on for 2 weeks, and transferring over all the brain work (and vocal work) we've done with "tomorrow" to our new song for our Christmas project "When Christmas Comes to Town"! Because we are rewiring Kate's brain to think and approach singing in a completely different way - with her first few songs, we will go back over our "forward placement checklist" when we start working on it to remind Kate all the things that she needs to remember and make feel weird in her voice in order to build all of our new vocal muscles and placements! We also worked on relaxing into our forward placement a little bit more so that it feels and sounds more like melodic singing! We did this by lengthening certain words for a smoother sound. Audience prep! Today we also did our first audience prep!! At the end of Kate's lesson I asked if she wanted to perform for a couple people (kate davis was there for her lesson after kate and i went and grabbed Tanner from upstairs) -- she said yes!! And she did GREAT!!!!!! The thing we work on with audience prep is not taking away her nerves - but teaching her how to deal with them-- how it feels to sing and perform when she IS nervous so that she knows she can do it even when she gets nervous or scared because she has done it several times before! Kate did so awesome!
